Ontario Premier Doug Ford to announce month-long COVID-19 shutdown today. How do we deal with this?

If you are angry, you are not alone. Most of us know how it feels to be isolated by now. Each day goes by and it is hard to stay positive without being able to do the things we love to do: like seeing family members, attending social events, going shopping at our favorite store. Many of us are overwhelmed and feel helpless. Below are some ways you can help yourself stay positive:

  1. Find inspiration. Look at how others are managing in similar situations, and how they are helping others in times of need. For example, do something different each day, read blogs, watch motivational talks like TED talks, do yoga, meditation etc..

  2. Consider how Social Media is affecting you. It’s easy to get pulled into discussions on social media or spend a lot of time tuned into the news. Stay updated from reputable sources; go right to the source. Do not spend hours watching the same thing over again on TV or reading about negative things.

  3. Practice gratitude. Consider thinking about the things that you are thankful for! Many people do not have access to basic necessities. Do you have a roof over your head? That is a start.

  4. Distract yourself. Watch movies, read novels, cook something different, take care of yourself by healing from the inside, maybe even try a homemade banana face mask!

  5. Look for what is good. Everything happens for a reason, and there is always something good that comes out of a bad situation. Look for that, and focus on it.
